How much does it cost to post a shipment?
Nothing. Posting is free and you're under no obligation to accept any quote. You only pay a small booking deposit when you choose a carrier, and that figure is shown before you confirm.
How is the price decided?
Freight forwarders, consolidators and carriers who already run your lane send competing quotes. Every quote is all-in. The number you see is the number you pay. You compare price, transit time, ratings and completed jobs, then pick the one you like.
Who are the carriers?
Independent freight forwarders, consolidators, NVOCCs, moving companies and owner-operators. Each one applies and is reviewed by us before they can quote. We check business registration, insurance details and, for US trucking companies, their DOT/MC record. Reviews from past shippers are public.
Do you handle customs, duties and paperwork?
No. ShipBid is the marketplace, not the forwarder. Customs clearance, duties and taxes, and any export or import paperwork are agreed directly between you and the company you book. Ask about them in the public Q&A before you book: say what the goods are, their value, and whether you expect the price to include duties at the far end, so every quote is on the same basis.
Is my contact information shown to carriers?
No. Before booking, both sides see an anonymous handle only. Questions are asked publicly on the listing so every carrier quotes on the same facts. Phone, email and address are revealed to the carrier you book, and to nobody else.
When do I pay the carrier?
On delivery, directly to the carrier. ShipBid only collects the booking deposit. We recommend paying nothing up front; if a carrier asks for full payment before pickup, report it to us.
What if the carrier cancels or doesn't show up?
Your booking deposit is refunded in full and your listing can be reopened for new quotes. If you cancel after booking, the deposit is not refunded.
