Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 15, 2026
This policy explains how ShipBid LLC ("ShipBid", "we") collects, uses and shares information when you use shipbid.co.
Information we collect
You give us: name, email, phone number, password (stored hashed), shipment details including pickup and delivery addresses and photos, quotes, questions, answers, messages, reviews, and — for Carriers — business identity information (registration numbers, tax identifiers, insurance and registration documents, government photo ID of the contact person).
Automatically: IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, and timestamps of activity (we record when an account was last active to show "online" status to administrators and to avoid sending you text messages while you are using the site).
From payment processing: Stripe processes card payments; we receive the payment status, amount, and a reference — never your full card number.
How we use it
To operate the marketplace (list shipments, deliver quotes, exchange contact details after booking, generate receipts); to verify Carriers; to send transactional email and, if you opt in, SMS; to detect and prevent off-platform contact and fraud (automated scanning of public and private text before booking); to resolve disputes and Shipment Protection claims; to comply with law; and to improve the Platform.
What other users see
Before a booking: your anonymous handle, your public questions/answers/notes, your public profile statistics (for Carriers: completed jobs, rating, cancellation rate; for Shippers: listings posted, booking rate, completed deliveries, typical reply time), and your listing content. Contact details and company names are hidden. After a booking: the Shipper and the booked Carrier see each other's name, company, phone, email, addresses for pickup and delivery, and (for Carriers) website. Carrier identity documents are visible only to ShipBid administrators.
Sharing
We share information with: service providers who host and operate the Platform (Vercel, Turso, Vercel Blob for files, Resend for email, Twilio for SMS, Stripe for payments); the other party to a booking, as described above; and authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety. We do not sell personal information.
Text messages
If you opt in, we send SMS about quotes, bookings, messages and account status. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out; we then stop texting you but continue to email.
Retention
We keep account and transaction records for as long as your account exists and for seven years afterwards for tax, accounting and dispute purposes. Carrier identity documents are deleted 90 days after an application is rejected, or on account closure once no booking remains open. Moderation flags are kept for two years.
Your choices and rights
You can update profile details in Account, opt out of SMS, and request a copy or deletion of your data by emailing support@shipbid.co. We will respond within 30 days. Deleting an account removes personal details but may retain anonymised transaction records. Residents of jurisdictions with specific privacy rights (for example the EU/UK GDPR or California CCPA) may exercise those rights through the same address.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in and, where relevant, browser storage for interface preferences. We do not use advertising cookies.
Children
The Platform is not directed to anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We will post updates here with a new effective date and email account holders about material changes.
